Our new 2018 16TBS had one of the drip spouts at the front end of the rail installed incorrectly- it was pointed up at a 45 angle :P

Had to pull a screw to reposition it and noticed they use some type of sticky black caulk>   anyone know what it is exactly?
I was very glad to see it was NOT silicone caulk- I hate that stuff- once used it is virtually impossible to ever get anything to stick in that spot ever again..

I don't know what it is, but its characteristics are those of Eternabond tape. We have that on the edge trim of ours. There may also be a black caulk that LL uses, but the tape would be easy, neat, and fast, so I'm betting on Eternabond. Good stuff, by the way........

P.S.-----how could that upside down gutter have ever left the factory like that!

I'm familiar with Eternabond- good stuff.  Used about 50 ft of the 4" resealing roof seams on my 20' enclosed Featherlite Trailer.  Factory sealant gave up after about 14 years.   Expensive but hope it lasts another 14+ years.

The stuff I'm wanting is definitely applied from a gun or tube.  It appears very similar to butyl rubber mastic I'm familiar with, used to seal antenna connections on cell towers- but more liquid.

Surprisingly the dealer did not know what it was but promised to find out.  I want some for future repairs and to make sure the area I had to remove the errant gutter is resealed properly.

Pretty glaring to see that gutter installed like that- took a real doofus to put it on like that!  Then assuming there even is QC they missed it too...

Probably is polysulfide. Lifecaulk among others makes it.

Does polysulfide stay tacky?  The stuff on my CL is soft and can actually be parted and sort of stuck back together.
The polysulfide states it can be sanded- no way to sand this stuff CL used- it is soft and tacky.
This is on a CL built in early Nov 2017.
If it holds up it appears to be good stuff.

I'll be calling the LL customer service on Tues to ask for the several manuals missing from the pack so I'll ask them-
I have no awning operation manual, no power jack manual, no slideout manual, and a few others.

No, you are right, polysulfide gets rubbery but not sticky. It is used in teak seams on boat decks and can be shaved with a blade, sanding woulld be tough but it shouldn't clog up the sand paper.

So maybe it is roof patching cement. It is an asphalt-synthetic blend. No silicone.

I don't think it is asphalt based- it is very shiny- looks exactly like black silicone, until you touch it and it is much softer and sticky/tacky.  It can actually be peeled up and then stuck back down- neat stuff really, assuming it is supposed to be that way!

When I call LL Tues I'll ask about it-  I also just noticed the Platinum package is supposed to have throw pillows and a bedspread, we have neither!

You'll probably need to print off those missing manuals yourself. We didn't get those either and the dealer/LL just tosses them.

Since I have the same black tacky stuff in the seams of my camper and you think it's not Eternabond, post back what you find out from LL. I really don't think it's anything that comes out of a caulking gun because it's very stiff and I can't imagine squeezing that through a nozzle.

Here are some pics of the black sealant I'm referring to-    upon further inspection it appears to be the same consistency as the white sealant on the edge of the roof membrane- both obviously applied by a nozzle of some sort.
There is what appears to be Eternabond tape on the front seam of the roof to the front of the camper.

Merlin

Hmmmm........does look like a nozzle was involved! Now I'm extra curious about what it is.........

Has anyone also installed (properly) these extended spouts?  Am considering doing this.
