Just back from our first trip with new camper - more feedback on camper

So, we went big for our first trip and towed the thing from WA state->southern Utah->Grand Canyon->Vegas->Home.  My wife was amazed at how much "stuff" she could get in the trailer and took full advantage of it.  I don't think she realized we were coming back home.  I would have liked to weighed trailer because she packed it to the gills with food and clothes/toys for the kids.  Overall the trailer did outstanding and we had an incredible time.  We are thrilled with our purchase so far!

Here's a few random bits of feedback/observations...

Camper towed great, the only problem is our Sequoia was getting 9mpg pulling it.  Lots of strong winds during parts of the route but other than that most of the time you forgot it was back there.

Tank capacities - Grey and black are 28 each, freshwater is 36.  This is different than what is listed on livinlite site.  I crawled under trailer to see why it was taking so long to fill the freshwater tank...  I actually like the new sizes better.

Freshwater tank - it seems that only about 2/3rds of it is useful.  Once the tank gets to only 1/3rd full the pump doesn't seem to be able to get any water out of it.  This sounds familiar but I couldn't find any prior posts on it??

The tank level indicators actually seemed to work ok.  You just have to make sure you are absolutely level when checking.

The Westinghouse 2400 genny worked great.  Super quiet and got our single 12v battery recharged enough after 1-2 hrs to last another day.  Will be switching to 2 6v batteries soon since 99% of our camping is dry camping.

The auto propane switcher thing is great  except that I can't see the indicator unless I take the entire cover off.  Will be cutting a small pilot hole in the cover so I can see the indicator.

As mentioned in another thread the hot water temp was fluctuating in the shower when using the freshwater tank.

The bluetooth radio was great for playing ocean waves sounds at night.  8)

The Arvika bike rack was great.  However, our trailer doesn't have much tongue area and I could only get 3 bikes to fit without decreasing my turning radius too much.

The shower curtain is not that great...  it's way to long/wide and loves to stick to you!

Apparently LivinLite no longer supplies a sewer hose.  I didn't realize this until I went to dump... fortunately a Walmart was close by that carried tons of RV stuff.

Shower seams are not caulked well, will be re-doing the caulk soon.

The Voyager camera worked great during the day but too much infrared light at night washed out the picture so I usually just cut it off when driving at night.

I'll add more as I think of it...

Great report. Sounds like an epic first trip.

Mpg is normal; going slow helps.

Some of us have installed an Irvine shower door because of the curtain problems you mentioned.

The fresh tank outlet is in the side of the tank, not the bottom, so you're right, the pumps starts sucking air well before the tank is empty. You should check the tank installation to make sure the outlet is on the low side. The holding brackets on fresh tank were installed backward so the deep end of the tank was opposite the outlet.

Looking forward to more stories!

Thanks for the report!

Quick note on the shower curtain...

I installed one of these on our 2014 21BHS and it helps a LOT!

We managed to fill our grey water tank for the first time recently, to the point of backing up in the shower and sink. I drained it into a bucket about 5 gals at a time and I estimated 29 gals came out altogether.

Thanks Eddie and Merlin.  Eddie, how do you keep all the water from going in the floor?  Do you just make sure the curtain is a little longer and keep it in the shower?

FastEddieB

Yep, the bottom of the shower curtain generally stays inside the pan.

Added benefit is more shoulder room when going potty. We have a small trash can we invert and put in the shower to serve as a literal coffee table for morning constitutionals!

Would be interested in this mod myself. Has anyone else done it? If you do it tbrady, be sure to post up the what and how.
Thanks!

Hmm, just noticed the text I typed didn't show up... I just used a holesaw and put a 2" hole in it.  I can now see the indicator and flip the source switch through the hole.

Also, to keep the propane tank cover attached to the trailer I added a couple of threaded knobs that screw in through the tabs on the cover.

Our tank cover uses two small bungees with holes drilled at the bottom. Hook up and go.

I threw away the factory vinyl cover when it turned all spotty and scabrous over last winter. Went nekkid all last year and lemme tell ya it felt great.
