How many amps does my refrigerator draw

Where I keep my TT in storage the electricity is limited to 5 amps.  Can I plug in my trailer and run the frig to cool it off before I leave on a trip?  I have the singel door frig.

Yes, you should stay under 5 amps AC while running the fridge off of shore power. It typically draws about 250 watts which is about 2 amps AC. But another concern would be the converter because if your battery(s) were a bit low it could pull another 3-4 amps and exceed the 5 amp limit. You could turn off the AC breaker that feeds the converter's battery charger and eliminate that problem.

But how is your AC power limited to 5 amps?

And I assume in the above we are talking about AC power being limited to 5 amps, right?

Interesting question about how the facility limits the current. I hope it's not by circuit breaker because folks might have some unpleasant surprises with damaged batteries, etc.

If you don't mind taking 2 trips to the facility, you could make the first one to plug in the shore power and charge the battery(s) and then the second to turn on the refrigerator. Once the battery is charged, 5 amps will run the fridge and keep the battery on float charge. David is correct about the AC current draw of a single door fridge in a 16TBS.

Edit: I assume you know it takes forever plus several days to cool a hot fridge on AC.

I run a battery maintainer and the battery is fully charged..  The site where I keep my Livin Lite says  all plugs are are 5 amps.  You are probably right when you say they are limited to 5 amps.

I suspect the 5 amp limit is BS and there is no 5 amp breaker which will limit the current to that level.
