Hi there. Congrats. If you go WDH, I recommend having your local dealer install it. And if you do go WDH, opt for something with sway control too. I got my WDH with sway control installed at dealer for about $400.

An alternative to WDH might be to consider stiffening the rear suspension of your truck.

Cheers!

Very interesting. The 16TBS is much chubbier now too. 2105 is 3070 lbs dry and 2017 spec is 3370 lbs dry. But, it lost a lot in cargo capacity, going from the 2015 spec of 1930 to the 2017 spec of 1072. With water, propane, an extra battery, food, camping gear, and personal gear, I would think it might be easy to add several hundred pounds and begin to push the 1072 lb. cargo limit. All in all, the 2017 spec will be fine for most folks, but if they mess with it much more, they will need to change the name to Camphevy.

Merlin - When you refer to cargo capacity, I am curious if you are referring to payload or cubic inches of storage space?  If you were referring to cubic inches of storage space, that is surprising as the 2017 16TBS appears to be six inches longer and a bit taller.  If payload.. isn't the 2015 16TBS a dual axle trailer? I believe current 16's are single axle. The slight increase in dimensions, along with adding an insulated floor, seems like it might add a bit of weight. I suppose time will tell if the supposed "creature comforts" are worth it.

Great first post!  I bet you'll like the camper and the places it takes you. Where's the first trip going?

Merlin - The first trip will be a short jaunt to dead horse ranch state park in Cottonwood, AZ.  https://azstateparks.itinio.com/deadhorseranch/

Thanks again for the warm welcome everyone.  I will definitely keep you all posted as to how it goes.

Good evening all ~  I am a new member, I don't have a Camplite trailer yet. It's on order. Two more months to wait. *Sigh*  Anyway, just a quick note to say I like what you are doing here Paul... so I donated to the cause. In another few months, I might actually have something to say.

From the perspective of a newbie, one observation to share - there certainly seems to be a lot of residual anger/frustration towards Thor... so much so at one point I considered cancelling my order, eating the deposit, and ordering the VMIOffroad trailer I really wanted. That move wouldn't have set well with the wifie, so I am still sticking with my Camplite 16BHB order... and to be perfectly honest I feel pretty good about it (even though I have never seen one in person... ordering from Arizona is a huge pain).  Thor may not be as bad as we think... they may simply have managed the initial transition poorly. Not that KZ is a world beater, but from what I can tell it seems like they are righting the ship a bit.  Have faith my friends... it seems like Camplite is doing many things well and is trending in the right direction once again.
