Looking for owners to weigh in on what option they have(sofa or dinette) and would they change if they could.

Dinette option, no question. I replaced the wobbly single post table with a home built removable leaf table. It provides a stable surface for eating and working and still converts into a bed. Much more useful than the couch.

To be contrary to Charlie, I much prefer the couch in our 16TBS. We have camped about 50 overnights so far and have NEVER eaten inside. We use the picnic table at the campsite. So why have a dinette.

We use the couch for sitting in the morning with a cup of coffee before going outside for the day. We put our clothes bags, etc up on the top between the back and the window. We use it to sit down to put on our shoes and socks. It is an ugly and uncomfortable couch, but I would prefer it to a dinette that wouldn't give us as much sitting room even if you could remove the table in between the seats.

So, that's our preference. For those who camp at RV parks with no picnic table, then you might want a dinette.

FWIW our dealer swapped out a couch from another LL and put it in place of the dinette. At that time LL didn't offer a 16TBS with a couch direct from the factory. But D&H RV came through for us and gave us exactly what we wanted.

Couch, we do 99% of our eating outside, if the situation arises, a small folding table is placed inside.

I too have the couch. I had the dinette in my old Jayco. To make a bed it was a cushion jigsaw puzzle. Everytime I slept on it my ass ended up on the table and the cushions moved. Maybe living lite did a better job. The couch is not very comfy. I took mine to a buddy and had it redone with high density foam and it is MUCH better. We try to eat outside as well. The folding table for the couch isn't that bad. If it rains we usually find a restaurant anyways. It comes down to what you prefer.

We have a couch in our 16TBS that gets a lot of use. I installed a removable table on the floor in front of the couch for when we eat inside, which is very frequent (once a day at least). The couch is not super comfortable because it's so high off the floor, but it still is used a lot. We are always looking around for a more comfortable option, but haven't found one yet. I tried the dinettes in the 14, 15, and 21 back in 2014 when we purchased ours. The dinette in the 21 was the only one comfortable for more than a quick meal. The others had firm, upright cushions right on the aluminum base that quickly became downright hard. Certainly not a place to sit for long. The dinette in the 21 (at the time) was shaped differently and had some more comfort to it. But, since we went with the 16, it had to be the couch. In either case (couch or dinette), don't expect a comfortable, useable bed out of it.

Couch.  We took the factory table OUT and added a Tray table from Sam's much lighter for us two.  When friends are over added 2nd tray table and 2 folding chairs, all of which fits behind our couch for storage.  We find that when on the road we fold out the counter and sit and eat from it while on our sofa. Love our couch!

Thanks to all for the information.

If just two, go with the couch, the folding table that comes with it makes it a suitable dinette for two when needed.

Hi David. I agree. For us the couch wins hands down. And, yes it is uncomfortable as it comes from the factory. More ouch than couch until I went into project mode on it. Check out my Sofa Mod thread here for a relatively simple fix. https://aluminumcamperforum.com/index.php?topic=692.0 We LOVE our couch now : )

For me it's the dinette hands-down. I leave the table and table leg put away and I have a U-shaped couch. Mic drop. Have a nice day Mr Smith

Couch we modified the factory table to a single pole.  It wobbles but it does spin to get in and out.  Works as added counter space when indoor cooking in shoulder seasons..

Also... you can change it. Our very early production 6.0 came with a barely usable and rather uncomfortable dinette. Before the Thor buyout, I ordered the couch and base from LL. I removed the dinette seats and installed the couch. The only thing that was challenging about it was that the electrical control box was mounted in the seat base and had to be moved.

Getting the new parts will be much more difficult now.

I just ordered mine with the couch.  Our reasons were similar to others.  We expect to eat outside mostly, and the folding table that is included can be used for meal prep and if we need to because of bad/cold weather still eat in the trailer.
