Long term use

This coming summer we plan to park our camper at some property we own and use it for extended stays; perhaps as long as a few weeks at a time. However, the camper itself will be at the property for most of the summer as we come and go. For those of you that have done extended stays or use a seasonal campsite, is there anything special we should think about for this type of use?

We've taken our 21BHS out for several 1 - 2 month trips over the last three years.  We also stay locally sometimes a month at a time with a couple of weeks in between stays. 

The first long trip we made, we discovered that our A/C (the original Penguin 2) could not be trusted as it was freezing up.  We replaced it with the A/C from RECPro (which I believe you already did).  The big benefit from that change (aside from the fact it is a nice and quiet A/C) is the heat pump.  We never realized how handy that can be on a long trip.

The other thing that makes a difference is the dehumidifier we bring along.  I store it in the back seat area of my truck and then carry it into the camper and plug it in near the slide area.  Works great, keeps the humidity down and also prevents any musty smells from taking over.

Other than that, the camper has been great as is for long trips.  How is your mattress?  That would be the only other consideration I can think of.

Good intel on the humidity. Our intended campsite is lakefront on Lake Michigan so it will be a high humidity spot. I'll figure out something to mitigate it.

We have nice mattresses from Mattress Insider that have held up well for 11 years. I'll check to make sure no mildew sneaks up on us.

I have been camping for two months in the Keys in February and March for the last few years.  I can't think of any issues that have come up over the times I have been doing this*.  I think the humidity issues occur while winter camping when you get below freezing temperatures. 

*We don't always get FHUs so water, gray water, black tank and power management is the challenge when dry camping.
