For our upcoming trip in late spring, we sprang for a new sofa. The original folding sofa in the 16 TBS was never satisfactory and as the cushion aged, the bar across the bottom front became unbearable to sit on. We considered all sorts of ideas, from replacing the existing cushion, to a simple dinette setup, to a complex recliner arrangement. A new jackknife sofa from RecPro seemed to be the best overall, so we ordered the 62" without legs that will sit on a new 3/4" plywood base in the slide.

We are also replacing the original toilet that's cracked, the stereo that no longer connects via Bluetooth to our phones, and the rearview camera setup that's getting blurry. It will be a busy refurbish time this spring!

Hey Merlin!  All sounds like fun, fairly easy projects to update and refresh your camper. Best of all you have some amount of time to do it before your next big adventure! Make this project a little more exciting by adding just a few more "not really needed but would enjoy" type of updates.  Have fun!

Merlin, how has the new sofa been working out for you over the last several months?  Ours is in poor shape too, and we have covered it with a tight blanket, but ready to replace it. Thanks!

It's been great. Very comfortable and fits much better than the original sleeper sofa. We have more room in the aisle now when the slide is either in or out. We got it without legs so it sits directly on the slide platform with a piece of plywood under the sofa. I did put some shims about an inch high under the front to tip the sofa back a bit. This is the one we bought (and wow has the price gone up!).
