Hi,

Voyager and Furrion seem to be the two better choices for backup camera's.  I'm wondering if people have experience with either of these, if they would buy them again, and if they have one they like, which is the make and model they have. I'd ultimately like to purchase three cameras set up with a 7 inch screen.  Thanks.

I like my Voyager, but it's 5 years old and there are now likely higher resolution and more compact units. I would not hesitate to buy Voyager again, but an updated model. Spend the money necessary to get a wireless system that locks onto the signal (rejecting nearby interference). I would find 3 cameras distracting and overkill,  but I have great side-view mirrors and no blind spots left and right. I just use one rear camera mounted on top of the camper and have a great 360 view while driving.

I have seen three camera units at an RV show. You can toggle between all or any single camera. I like the idea of the side cameras so that I can see the far side of the trailer when I'm backing out an angle.  The one that I saw was made by Furrion.  The similar Voyager Unit that I see online is over $1000. I'd spend it if I have to, but that is a little rich for me.

I have had a Voyager wireless system for 5+ years and it has performed perfectly. The signal strength from rear of the camper to inside TV is excellent. I have tried it with separation of 75-100 feet and it still works. That's overkill but it shows there's margin in the system. The digital picture quality is excellent and is only seldom blocked by outside interference. It works much better than previous analog systems. In selecting a model the key is that the camera and display must be "paired". This indicates the units are really locked together similar to Bluetooth and reject any other nearby signals. One of my earlier experiments, although digital, was totally trashed by all the signals in newer trucks, gas stations and Bluetooth cell phones. We drive in an interference rich environment.
The Voyager is expensive but I've been down the cheap route. YGWYPF or - buy it right and buy it once; buy it cheap and buy it twice. In my case it was buy it three times but I'm a slow learner  ;) .
I have no experience with Furrion.
