I am considering removing the original charging wires from my batteries to the converter. The stock wires seem to be bare minimum and the original ring terminals also have to go.

Is there a max wire gauge that the converter will accept?

Suggestions would be appreciated.

For some reason, I don't think the wire size for the DC side of the power center is listed. That is, if you have the same PD 4000 Series Power Center I have. Read through this to make sure I didn't miss it.

Based on what I have read, the converter is rated at 45 amps DC.
AWG #8 is only good for 40 amps at 60°C.
That would mean the minimum AWG wire size is #6.
Depending on how far the run is you may want to go up one more wire size.
Measure the opening in the connections to the converter DC connection and choose.
You can refer to this guide.

With DC current bigger is better.

Yea I would go with at least 4awg, but pull your converter back, and see how its connected first. Mine was 8awg, and they just tied it into the converter harness with a wire nut.. smh.

Thank you all for your input!

I am going to tackle this project in a few more weeks. I just completed a bearing re pack and had to change out the factory breakaway switch. The breakaway switch was totally shot, something I would recomend checking on a yearly basis.
