Installed a dual 12v ceiling fan above the bed...

Only draws .3 amps at lowest speed on rheostat, which is what I run it at. Gives just enough breeze and white noise at that speed.

I didn't want any screw holes through the azdel, and I didn't think command strips could hold the weight so I took a different approach...

I bought these "super strength" magnets and screwed them on to the back of the fan, and I super glued another pair of magnets on the opposite (hidden) side of the azdel. These magnets work EXTREMELY well through a panel of azdel.

The only issue with this fan is that it only has a high and low speed. Luckily I had another fan that I had previously tried with a suction cup mount(that didn't work), and also had a full speed rheostat to control the speed. I cut the rheostat off the old fan and installed it on the new double fan. Stuck it to the wall with a command strip and it works like a champ. The wheel light only lights up when the fan is on. I removed the other bulb in the rheostat to stop parasitic drain. It gives a little white noise to fall sleep to. I'm happy with it 🙂

**update** I removed the adhesive zip tie holders and installed some white wire molding instead. Looks a lot better.

That looks great..  another item to add my list.

Thanks, the wife and I love it at night, and the magnets do an awesome job at holding it up. I'm going to rewire it into the overhead light that's behind it, and remove the wire molding for a cleaner look 👍🏻

Rewired the fans, no more power cord running all around the ward cabinet. Still no holes that would be visible in the azdel ceiling if I removed the fan(just the light cover has a hole now). It looks a lot cleaner and now we can both reach the rheostat to control the speed :)

Added 2 rubber grommets, one through the light cover and another through the base of the light fixture to prevent chaffing. Also added a 15a inline fuse.

What a wonderful idea and install. Since our last hot weather experience in a campsite with no shore power and restricted genny hours, some sort of 12v fan has been moved to the high priority list. I like the OEM appearance. GK

Fan purchase comment for Canadian readers-just purchased same fan from Amazon.ca for $27.99 CAD, much cheaper than .com price. How amazing is that?! https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B01G8DCWDK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

This fan was a life saver for us this weekend. It got pretty hot, and my AC was kicking my gen off(because I forgot to turn off the battery charger like a dummy). I HIGHLY recommend getting the other $20 fan(linked above) with the rheostat to control the speeds though. Without it, you only have 2 speed settings. I pulled the 1 LED out of the rheostat that was always energized. The wheel LED still lights up when its turned on. Ran mine on pretty low speed all weekend 24/7 and it hardly used any amp hours.

In keeping with the spirit of your suggestion, Gary, I ordered a 12V variable speed controller. The plan is to remove the existing fan knob and wire in the variable speed one. If there's not enough space in the fan housing for, or too much heat produced by the controller's electronics board, I'll move it into the 1" space below the cabinet shelf. Further, my LSW will probably want an on/off toggle for 'her' side of the fan.  https://www.ebay.ca/itm/282229572010

I always look forward to your posts. I wonder if replacing your fridge with a 12V/AC compressor driven unit is on your mod-bucket list? I tried to get that one past my LSW, but the door was slammed tight until it our current one dies. Any ideas on how I can hasten our existing one's demise?! GK

I LOVE that idea with the speed controller GK! Wish I thought of it. That's going to look a lot cleaner than mine, and there's plenty of real estate inside the box to install the computer board. These little projects are a blast, and you can get really creative with them! Love to hear how the on/off toggle works out too!

FYI.. I look forward to your posts as well!, and I haven't given much thought to the fridge yet. As of now it's performing pretty flawlessly on propane and keeps everything ice cold. If the mountains are blue on my coors light cans, then I'm happy :) As far as hastening the demise of yours.. I dunno.. maybe run it while its not level! haha
