Hello everyone,
I would like to purchase a spare wheel bearing kit to carry when on the road.  I know the outer bearing is a L44649 bearing but I don't know about the inner one.  Can anyone help me with this?  I'm not sure about the seal either.  The exterior diameter of the seal is 2.5".  Our break drum are 10".  I sent an email to Dexter Axle but they didn't replied after a week.

Thanks for your help..........Sylvain

If you contact dexter support and give them your serial number they will email you the exact specs for your specific axle. Lots of info, I have no diea what half of it means  :o
If it ain't broke it probably will be soon.

Yes Mitch, that's exactly what I did like I said in the message above.  They didn't replied.........until yesterday!  They send me all the specs about my axle, very cool.  I also noticed that the 3000lbs axle found in ADR's chart is different than ours.  So you are right Mitch, the best thing is to send Dexter an email with the serial number of your axle they'll send you all the information about that specific axle.

My bad, I didn't read your original post closely enough. Sorry
If it ain't broke it probably will be soon.

Sylvain

Don't be sorry!  All replies are appreciated.

Curious what was different about your axle's bearings/seals than the Dexter chart showed for their 3000 lb axle?

Sylvain

The brake drum is 10" x 2 1/4", the inner bearing is different as is the grease seal.  The outer bearing is the same though.  That's about it.

Interesting - so according to the Dexter chart that would be a 3.5k or 4k or 4.4k axle.

Wonder why they'd mark it as 3k?   :P

Sylvain

I believe they were a custom order.  They only made 16 of them according to the information sent by Dexter.
