My brother and I are taking the QS10 down to Borrego springs, out near the Salton sea, east of Palm Springs. We spent one day there a year ago. Loved it. We had a near 180 degree view of the desert laid out in front of us. Great night skies. I chose a more primitively site. No power or electricity. But, great bathrooms and showers.

This will be escape from work, wives, and cell phones/computers! Cooking, snacking, sitting in chairs,  mild hiking, drinking coffee, drinking booze. Chips. Bacon. Catching up on stuff.

I'm hoping to get a couple time lapse of the sunset.

Borrego springs is a quaint town. Anza Borrego the largest state park in California. Coyotes and big horn sheep are frequently seen. It can be near freezing at night.

Sounds like it will be a great retreat!

We just camped at Anza-Borrego State Park for 4 nights about two weeks ago. Absolutely loved it! What a great place. We camped in Palm Canyon (with full hook-ups) and hiked both Palm Canyon (twice) and Hellhole Canyon. Also did some off-road 4-wheeling on desert roads (really just trails in most spots) and saw many portions of the desert that you wouldn't otherwise see. Loved the dark sky at night and listening to the coyotes howling (both at night and in the morning as they chased rabbits). Beautiful sites in the desert and surrounding mountains. Great area to camp and spend some time. We will definitely go back again sometime!

catmanriff - Yes, those are great pics and I think we saw them earlier when you first posted them. I believe that is how we first heard about Anza-Borrego SP and is probably the reason that we ended up going there while on this current trip! So, thanks for alerting us to the many wonders of this incredible area! Hope you're having a good trip this time as well!

Last two days before my brother and I take off to the desert. A deluge of rain today and tomorrow. But Monday-Wednesday supposed to be 70 degrees and sunny..50 at night.
I'm a list maker. Funny, my list started with "bacon" then other food stuffs, beer.  After a while I realized I had missed a few items.... like water. Sunday it's charge the battery and shopping day.
I bought a 3" gel infused memory foam mattress topper. My brother gets that along with the stock mediocre one. On my side the 4" dual memory/gel mattress we've been using. When my wife and I go out this spring, we will take both on one side for a 7" memory foam&gel experience. I need to put something down on the other bed, like carpet or rubber matting

Learning how to do a time lapse on my Panasonic camera. If it works, I'll share. Great sunsets and night skies down there.

Have a great time! And yes, the night sky is unbelievable in that area because Borrego Springs is one of only 3 cities in the U.S. that doesn't use street lights. So the sky is nice and dark at night!
