Rolling up the cover--

Has anyone had trouble with rolling up the cover tight enough so that it can easily be secured to the front of the camper?  I have and I'm wondering if I have the following working against me-- 1)perhaps my cover is getting older and it is not as pliable as a brand new one (although my 6.0 is only a 2012 model), 2)I solo camp so I usually walk back and forth from side to side when rolling up my cover (its harder to get a "tight" roll this way), 3)the Velcro straps on the front of the camper seem just a bit too short to wrap around the rolled up cover.  It seems to me that if the straps were just a few inches longer than it would be easier to secure them.  Sometimes, I just roll up the cover and don't use the straps and just let the cover rest on the battery box.  Not the best, but it works.  Anyone ever make a mod to lengthen the straps somehow?

Found this video about the QS 5 set up and knock down, not sure if it's helpful:

I have a 2012 8.0 and I have the same problem. I stopped trying long ago to fit the folded cover in the strap. I fold/roll it and move from side to side and rest it over the edge. I bought a new cover, which is totally different, it's a tonneau cover. It also came with the snaps in a bag. So I have to get the nerve to put them on myself. But I'm going to keep that old cover as a back up cover. The sun is brutal here in south Florida. I've gone through 5-6 car covers and tarps.

I assume that your model has the bunk fold out onto the road side of the camper.

I rolled up my cover, on my 8.1, alone with the help of an old tent pole.  I pulled the tarp over the hitch and began rolling, using the tent pole to help support the weight and the pole is rolled into the tarp.  The same method I use when rolling a tent.  I was able to get it nice and tight.....................though it is quicker and easier with two people.

I had the same issue. I found a very simple solution. I bought more Velcro and attached the extra Velcro to the factory Velcro straps that are located and under the cover when stored. It looks just like the factory Velcro and you can't even tell I added it.

My wife and I joked they were trying to save money on Velcro when they built it.

Hmm, a good idea from both kybrowns1 and rob.  I sold my 6.0 and now have an 8.0 and have just been rolling up the cover as best as I could and letting it rest on the battery box.  I'll be looking into the extra velcro though.

Make sure you get the double sided Velcro.
