I was a Proboard LL forum member for more than a year and just joined this one. I have high hopes for your new baby Paul. I can see immediately that it is fast. I will hold off commenting any more on the BBS software until I have test driven it more, but what I see is good.

Paul, could you share with us some of the economics of  "our" board. It is not the only privately supported board that I am a member of. The other one is one of my favorites. The Vbulletin ones are some of my worst.

So if you don't mind what does this SW cost. If you didn't have an unused server, what would it cost for a hosting service given the user volumes and storage requirements that we see on the LL Proboard site now. I'll bet that LL could cover the picture hosting costs on the other LL site in the round off error of their marketing budget.

So, about me. I am a retired engineer- chemical and live in northwestern Connecticut. Tinkeringtechie, CharlieM and I were the tech geeks over on the other LL site. I have extensive live aboard experience on cruising sail boats and the electrical and some of the appliance issues are the same. Joan and I have been camping for decades, first in a tent, then in a pop up and after that we spent three months camping in almost all of the western states in a light fifth wheel trailer. That was a world class experience. We plugged in and hooked up twice- once at an RV park in Montana so I could change the oil myself (never again, I am too old for that stuff and Jiffy Lubes or equivalents are everywhere) and once to see the strip at Las Vegas.

Last year we camped in Ct, Mass, NY, Vt and Maine state parks. We also spent a few days at Acadia NP near Bar Harbor, Me. We have never hooked up our CL at a campground, and I hope that I never do. Well I guess I will next week because the Fundy get together is in a National Park that has power, but no sewer and water I think. But we don't need it. We can go for 3 days without recharging.

We like to camp in less developed state and national parks and NFS campgrounds. No power and only outhouses is fine with me (well my wife does like flush toilets, don't they all!!). Some of our best sites are overlooking a lake or alongside a woodsy brook.

The Fundy trip will be our biggest this year. We will camp in NH or Maine on the way up and stay at a Provincial Park near Halifax after Fundy. Other trips will be to Lake George and the Adirondacks in NY.

I am posting a couple of pictures below to see how it works. The campground photo is small, about 30 KB. The falls photo is very large, more than 2 MB.

Hi David thank you for joining. For the economics, when I was a student I started a web hosting business, I am renting a dedicated server in a data center that has a really fast internet speed and a good amount of storage, I am not using shared hosting, I have my own dedicated server. On this server I host a couple of local business web site that I developped. Right now my web hosting business is more an hobby because I work full time elsewhere since 5 years but I continue to maintain the actual customers that I have. The cost for my server is about 45$ per month which is almost paid in full by my current customers,  I am a bit short about 150$ per year that come out of my pocket but don't mind because I use the server for my personal web sites I might put non-annoying ads later to try cover that cost but for now I won't. If the forums works well I will made some plan with someone of trust that will have access to the backup of this website so if something happens to me they can continue running this website in order to assure the continuity of the website, but don't worry I am young I am in my late 20s :) so I plan running this web site for a long time. The forum could probably run on a smaller server than that I actually had offered to the other forum a way to transition their forum on my server but he wasn't really interested.

I am also participating to the Fundy National Park in New Brunswick gathering in June 25 to 28, this is an open invitation to all livin lite owner that would like to participate just let me know for the details. Right now we are 3 livin lite owner participating with a total of 6 person.

I hope that this forum will gain traction and I am really happy that you joined us! See you at Fundy soon!

We will not be camping at Fundy this year, but will be camping in Paul's area of Canada & New England, during 2016!

See you on the road!
