My propane regulator is not working.  I have one full 20 lb tank attached.  It is showing the red color in the clear window when I flip the lever to the side the tank is attached to.  Any tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

My regulator switch-over valve was hooked up backwards from the factory with the lever pointing to the empty tank. Check this?

I have tried flipping the lever back and forth etc.  No dice.  Will probably pick up a new one.

I had a problem like this where I had replaced a bottle and thought the regulator had failed.  Tried swapping bottles, swapping the regulator to a preferred feed, etc.  Was all set to go and buy a new regulator.

Watched a video on line about changing out bottles and was cautioned about not opening the bottle valve(s) too quickly or it would enable the some kind of protection feature which isolates the bottle with excessive flow rates.  I reinstalled and slowly opened the isolation valve and it worked.

It works now.  Blew compressed air through the pigtail and reattached it.  Since only one tank is attached I did need to put my finger over the other plug to get it to flow through.  I will buy this sealing plug to keep on the unused side to prevent any leaking.

I had a problem with my Dometic Rm2554 refer.  It worked on AC but not on gas.  After troubleshooting the refer, cleaning the burner tube, flue, etc., I read where it can sometimes be insufficient flow from the regulator.  Changed the regulator and sure enough, the problem was solved.  Refer now works on gas.  It was cheap enough and not difficult to change so that was the route I took.  I suppose they could be repaired, but for $50 it is probably better just to change it out.  I am not sure how long they are supposed to last.  Mine was the factory installed Fairwinds and lasted 7 years.
