Our Tacoma is a 2nd gen. The 6 speed transmission was introduced in the 3rd gen Tacomas like yours.

Nice set-up.  What's the weight of your trailer?  It must be fairly easy to tow since it doesn't act as a big parachute being a low profile trailer.

Thanks again Charlie, your help is much appreciated!  If you don't mind I have a few more questions but they will be the last I promise!  What should the transmission temperature be (ideal and max)?  Also, what is your cruising speed and rpm when towing in fourth gear?

We finally traded our Silverado for a 2014 Tacoma TRD Off Road.  I'm happy with the truck, the size is nice. I didn't tow our 13QBB with it yet but i will in July.  I still need to install the brake controller in the truck. I have a few questions for you if you don't mind!  I was wondering if you tow with the transmission in D or do you block it in fourth gear?  Also, do you think it's necessary to add one leaf spring to prevent the back of the truck from sagging too much?

This year we installed a Acuvatech water filtration system in our CC.  It is such a great improvement!  We can drink any water from any campground eventhough it is not potable.  The system has a advanced filter which removes chlorine, lead, etc and has a UV lamp that kills the bacteria.  It is not a cheap upgrade but it is sooo worth it!  The filter is easily removable for winter storage or can be replaced every season.  This system also has a dedicated faucet.

That's great information!  Thank you so much!  It looks like the charge controller can be adjusted to 14.7v.  I just hope it can deliver it though!  We have an inboard mppt charge controller which controls the charge of the panel on the roof of the CL.  This mppt charge controller doesn't have any adjustment but I believe it has a bulk charge end point of 14.4v which is quite close to 14.7v.  The sad news is that our converter (PD4540 I believe)will only charge it to 13.7v when plugged to shore of course.

By the way, the cheap Chinese PWM controller that we use with our portable solar panel has a small ldc screen which tells me the voltage of the battery but it doesn't tell me how many amps are going in the battery.  Is there a way to mesure that?  The portable panel is 120w so I should read around 7A when in full sun.

David, the battery is a brand new Rolls 130ah flooded acid battery (not sealed).  We have only one.  The controller is a Chinese PWM charge controller and it's only for our portable solar panel.  The default setting for the FLA was 13.7v for bulk charging.

I just got a new charge controller for my portable solar panel.  This charge controller allows me to adjust bulk/float charge voltage.  I was wondering if I should set the controller to bulk charge up to 14.4v then above that it would float charge or should I set the bulk charge to 13.7v then float charge?

Is it powered only by the 2AA batteries or can it be powered by the TT battery?
