I have also noticed how hot the floor and geny compartment get on mine after running it 2.5 hrs. I never ran it longer than that and never had it shut down for high temp. That's a big drop in temp after removal!  Did the exhaust get louder after you removed the cat? I had to deflect the hot air coming out of the bottom of mine with thin aluminum sheet because it was blowing on the frame and outer edge wall causing it to get very hot. Now it blows straight down on the ground and reduced the heat on the floor. Your discovery sounds like a big improvement.

PebblePrincess, I did not get around to adding the second a/c. I had started getting ready for winter camping. I added ultra tank heaters but didn't need them thought it was going to be colder in December in north Carolina, got down in the low 30s. The ceiling panels are glued to the aluminum studs. I would recommend trying to route the cable across the ceiling and down the refridgerator wall to the converter if you choose the forward vent. If you decide to use the rear vent you got two ways, 1st route cable across the top and down the wall next to fridge or #2 somehow across to the rear corner and drop out the bottom of trailer. If you decide to go with opt#2 you can plug that a/c direct into the park power or continue back to the converter so you can power the a/c off the generator when needed. That 5500 onan can handle two 15btu a/c's with no problem. If I were in your shoes I would do two 15btu's, you want all you can get. I spoke to dometic and they said the a/c that puts out the most cooling is there blizzard series. The only problem is that unit sits higher than the penguin 2. I don't know what im going to do just yet, may swap my 13.5btu for a 15btu. I only had one bad experience so far that's why I stalled on adding second one.

Diversteve, My heaviest load would be my Harley's each weigh about 800lbs. I been using it more for kayaks and bicycles for now and maybe a gulf cart. It has a Load Capacity of 3,718 lbs. With a heavy load it should lighten up the tongue weight. I just haven't put a heavy load yet.

Thanks for bringing that up. I have a new one with single hose in storage that I was going to try but if that's the case then I don't want hoses running all over the place so I just may stick to the additional roof top. The one A/C 13.5 btu has worked great except that one time I was at a campground with no tree cover that it took very long to cool down. That's why I was considering the second one which would only be used when Im in direct sun with no shade.

I have seen the post on the mini split system but I cannot add anymore weight to the tongue, Im at 940lbs dry. There are some 26ft and larger quick silvers with the second a/c mounted on the forward vent. I would use the rear vent to keep weight at the rear. The hard part is running the wire from the front area where the breakers are up the wall and across the roof to the back. There is a lot of insulation up there. Another option I thought about is using a 8000 btu portable stand up a/c at the rear. Our toy haulers came with two side vents to vent fumes when transporting your toys and there is one vent at the rear bottom that I could vent that a/c out from. I may give that a try. I will report back on what I decide to do. I have not been out due to work but I plan on going to north Georgia in late December for some cold weather camping, looking into adding heating pads the holding tanks. Last year when I was there visiting family it got down to 18 degrees at night. This toy hauler has all the tanks exposed on the bottom. So far the few times I been out im very happy with it. Its built strong and will not fall apart like others. I do have the livin lite ford toy hauler 24ft and it has the warm feeling of the wood face cabinets.

I put mine under the entry steps in the shade and use dual lock 3m Velcro, strong adhesive and hard to separate. Like Charlie said put it on your checklist so it doesn't get wet and muddy while on the road.

Has anyone added a second ac on there quicksilver? Mine came with a 13.5 btu works great but not when there is no tree cover in florida when temps are in the 90's. I have researched this but cant find no talk about a livin lite owner adding a second one. I have 50 amp service so no problem there. What im wondering is if the other two vents will support the weight of another ac. I already removed the vent covers and converter to check if it was pre wired and do not see an extra cable. I will attach a pic of roof trust around vent. I have not yet removed the ac vent to compare the supports to the others. Im reaching out to see if anyone has experience in adding another ac with our models.

I noticed the pic looks like that but its very close to level. Also I think the ground was not level.

Great investment! I also have one that saved my but 3 times from power surges. Mine is not hard wired like yours, good choice one less thing you have to do when setting up. I also have the progressive cheater box incase there's no 50amp service. My transfer switch was hidden on the other side where yours is behind the azdel panel. When I removed the panel to look in there I could not believe the huge wasted space in the front cap that could have become another compartment but would have added more tongue weight, lots of installation in there. I always plug my surge protector in first and let it go throught its checks before pluging in my trailer so if there is a problem I can move to another spot.

Would like to say hello to all as a new member. I purchased a new 8.5x24 ford toy hauler 3 weeks ago. Picked up in Texas pulled to south florida. It pulled great but did notice heaver tongue weight than my other travel trailer. It had new battery, full propane tanks, full tank fresh water. Truck is a sierra 1500 6.0 gas with WDH 1000lbs bars.  I brought two friction sway controls but was unable to mount them at last minute. I want to clamp them on when I get a chance. Average speed was 65-75 mph with very little sway and lot of big rigs passing. Still have to see how it handles with my toys inside! When I picked up at dealer I checked for all the problems that livin lite owners have reported and only found aluminum shavings.  I ran everything and found nothing I could make them fix before I left. Got home and went throught it again and addressed a few things. Tie rapped hanging wires and covered from sharp edges, added a composite strip at outer edge of shower pan so water wouldn't run along edge, sealed inside fender wells for water splashing up there, added roof vent covers. Camped three times already, all good so far! already have ideas for added storage outside and some mods.
