Man, am I glad I'm not going through that decision process again! Good luck, David  :) . That said, the discussion of engine breaking and reliability are recalibrating my thoughts on diesels. Always a new tidbit to be picked up hereabouts.

Ah c'mon Charlie, the research and shopping is half the fun!  But agree on the diesels.  Most of what I'm seeing with the newer diesels and all the pollution controls - they're still a work in progress.

For the most part, I would agree with Merlin.  In all our adventures we always (90%+) needed the TV for exploring, commuting, chores, etc.  So as much as we love the idea of owning a "driver" it always comes back to the fact that if we do decide to go that route we will need to pull a toad of some sort.  So that puts us back to TT or 5th wheel.

However, if we ever do decide to get a driver, I would probably go with Ford or GM gas in a conventional Class C.  Pros and cons there too, but having a chassis and drive chain that can be repaired by most any auto repair shop and parts availability would be pro #1 and #2.

Anyways, after 5 years of journeys with our 21 RBS, in the peak of camping season last year, we sold it.  Overall happy with the LL but we are taking a break from traveling to focus on the house for a few years.  I thought long and hard about keeping the LL but poor insulation, and concerns with the the aluminum frame being the 2 main reasons I decided to let it go.  Loss of factory support wasn't critical but it didn't help either.  When we get itchy to go again, and we will, we'll be going through all of the research again.  The good news is, the innovations in the RV world seem promising that smarter, lighter and better built options are coming down the pike.

David, I have always regarded your knowledge as top shelf, happy hunting and I will be following your progress!

Unfortunately this forum seems to have lost it's pep since the last time you (and me) were hanging around here. I wonder if it's tied to the demise of the LL brand?
I think the lack of activity is due to two factors: Winter and no new Camplite owners. Winter has many/most of us in the winterized storage mode. The demise of LL with its lack of new units means few new LL owners enter the camping world. Present LL owners have most of their questions answered and their mods completed. But beware: us old guys are still around, although mainly silent, and still read this forum regularly. Watch what you say  ;) .
Welcome back Leslie and Surfsup.

Thanks! Glad to see you "old guys" (and maybe gals?) are still hanging around and dropping in from time to time. Forums do have their up and down moments. We still have our 21RBS, still camping, and have yet to find any other camper to beat it for durability or price.

Welcome back and so glad your husband is on the mend. I do recall chatting with you here and on some of our cross country LL blogs.

I placed a post under new members as I have been absent from this forum for a while. My husband has been very sick, which has totally consumed me. He has a few more doctor's appointments to go before being cleared for travel.

So, I am also posting here, just in case the new member post gets overlooked. I am not sure just how much I will be here, but it looks like my husband is out of the woods now.

Looking forward to reconnecting with you guys, and getting to know the newbies on here!

Leslie

Very glad to hear that your husband is doing well!

Welcome back! Not that I frequent here as much as I should either, but I do drop in from time to time.

Surfsup 1955, I, also, need to shorten my water lines. Although, I have a pex crimper, I mostly use a product called 'Shark Bite' or its knock-offs to make the connection especially in the ubiquitous 'tight' spaces or if only needing to do a couple of lines. GK

I'll price them next time I'm in Lowe's. Looked at a few videos and they seem to work well and easy enough to plug in.

I need 1/2" Pex x 3/8" compression fittings for my purposes.

Very neat install and faucet surfsup1955! I find the flexible boot very handy for working in tight spaces, well worth the price. For those who want to gain just a bit more space under the sink, one can remove the traditional P-trap and replace it with a waterless trap made by https://hepvo.com/. This same trap is (was?) used under CL showers. GK

Thanks, and thanks for the tip GK, I'll look into that.

I also intend to shorten the two Pex lines and install cut off valves when I have access to some Pex crimping gear. That way if we ever have any faucet issues I can repair or replace things a bit easier. In fact I might do that for the toilet and the bathroom sink as well?

Done!

We decided on the single hole version. Tightening the under counter clips were by far the worst part of the install. Had to run to Lowe's to get longer clip screws ($5) and a rubber boot ($5) to extend the drain pipe a few inches.

Thanks again TT!

Our jackknife sofa was originally covered in "pleather" - feels nice but the material is falling apart. 4 years old. Apparently another short cut by Livinlite.

Today I removed the sofa and it's going in to be reupholstered.

Just curious how others are holding up?
