Off Topic / Re: RV Show Report
February 01, 2018, 02:54:56 AM
Wife and I went to an RV show in Atlanta last weekend, it was my first and last, I will NEVER do that again, it was so crowded you could barley move, and people were rude walking right in front of us and standing in doorways talking and just being stupid, and the kids.....  the kids were out of control, but atleast with them, they are kids and exploring campers so I can't blame them, they were having fun, but my patients was worn thin by the end of the day .

I was glad to have my livin lite as well, my camper just turned 5, sits outside in the rain, and looks like new

ATC General Discussion / Re: Time for a new cargo trailer
February 01, 2018, 02:49:16 AM
I dont know if ATC was related to livinlite, but I have been seriously thinking about getting a custom made ATC..  I was just looking at two of their trailers last week and the quality is OUTSTANDING.  I know they make custom trailers as I have seen some on youtube, even if you dropped 50-70 grand, it would still be way less than an airstream, and you would get exactly what you want, plus they can come with an onan generator onboard

I'm not recommending this one, it just happens that I had one, and one time we went camping and I took it.  It ran fine off my Honda EU2000, and boy, this thing would run you out the house....  It got so hot in the camper we had to open the window, and it was 20' outside.  Needless to say, low setting is fine.  Now this thing has a riding spot in our camper,,  it puts off a nice "glow" too.

My Honda 2000Eu runs everything in my camper, including my window unit A/C.  I have one of the last 16DB's with that option rather than the roof top A/C.  So to your question, yes, I run my microwave that is factory installed with no problem on my Honda EU.  And, btw, I LOVE that genny..  Super quiet, and I have the optional extended run gas cap with hose to an external tank, so it will run for days without filling if needed.

(Off topic)
I have it setup at my house for "hurricanes"  I have five, 5 gallon gas cans always full, sitting in my workshop, so 25 gallons of gas can run my house fridge and put power to my camplite for easily 10-15 days.
My wife and I just move into our camper when power goes out, and keep the house fridge cold as well.  Last two hurricanes we were powerless for 3 days, and the one in 2016 was about 5 days.  At least with the last one (Matthew I think) I got 16 grand in insurance money.  With Floyd (2016) I had over 30 huge oaks blow down, but not hit anything so NO money, I had to clear all that myself.  Since that storm, I lost about 8 acres of grazing wood land for my goats.  Now they are limited to grazing only in the main pastures.
My house is for sale if anyone is interested..   4 bedrooms, 16 acres, 229K.  all livestock included if you want it.  Herd of goats. Some donkeys and pig too.  I'll even throw in some yard dogs since there are about 6 or so running around there

News and Announcement / Re: Hello Everyone
December 12, 2017, 06:35:05 PM
There may not be many post here, but I still check it every day to see who's talking.  Right now I am on my ship working a contract.  I have almost 250 days at sea this year, so when I'm on a contract I have a whole list of sites I monitor just to keep me busy.  I love to see people talking because it really gets boring out here.  Funny thing is that when I'm home, I hardly ever check the boards..  too busy playing then.

Trailers for Sale / Re: 2013 16DB

No, I had two offers at 13K but in the end, I did not think that was enough for me.. perhaps in the future.  If I ever get an airstream classic, maybe I will let it go

Livin Lite General Discussion / Re: Changes in attitude
November 20, 2017, 09:30:51 AM
I used to pull my 16DB with a Jeep Wrangler 4 door.  It pulled the camper ok and I never had any problems..  Then I put BIG mud tires on the jeep (Which made it look really cool).  We took the camper took the Talladega race, about 8 hours round trip, and man..  My wife and I were beat to death.  The ride was a LOT worse..  the jeep still pulled the camper ok, just the ride was terrible.

I traded my jeep in for a 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 2wd, 4 door, leather, you know all the good stuff...  (I needed a new truck anyway because the wife wanted a truck instead of the jeep)  WOW!!!  Tows that camper, and all my other stuff like its nothing..  love that truck

BUT... IF I can sell my house, I'm going to sell my truck and get an older truck that I can pay cash for and set off in my camper for an unknown amount of time with no debt or bills, so will see what happens there...

I have traveled to 56 countries and 46 states, I currently work about 9 months a year at sea.  I'm Retired USCG, and have worked as a contractor in the middle east (Iraq, etc.) and currently work for a major cruise line.  My wife have been married 29 years and are tired of always being separated.  So I have decided to sell most of my possessions and just hit the road with her and just enjoy our time together..  we have decided to keep our Camplite and see how we like being on the road, and if it suits us, we will upgrade to an Airstream Classic, or perhaps see in Camplite can build us a custom model that is more suited for full timing

When I tried to sell my 2013 16 dual axle, the best offer I got was 13K.  I wasn't selling it for that, after I took it off the market people wanted to offer me more, but I had already made up my mind to keep it.  IF I got something else, it would be a Keystone Outback rear living..  HUGE camper, I would just move in it and live in it full time.

for a custom effect, I took pictures from our camping trips over the last 20 plus years of so, when my boys were growing up.  I put them on my table and covered them in epoxy.   its special to my wife and I and reminds us of all our camping trips.  I saved the sheet metal from the top (or bottom) of the couch area, this is what I used to do all the trim
