Title: Outdoor 12v outlet
Post by: Gary M on June 27, 2018, 08:46:23 PM
This is a mod, that I feel like I should have done the first month of owning my TT. I want it so I can watch TV outside offgrid with a small inverter, while being able to charge phones outside as well. We usually set up a small table right under this area.

Replacing the existing AC outlet in the same box with a 12v outlet would result in me needing to run an inverter at a campground with hookups.

Ideally, I would have liked to install a double gang receptacle to have both close together like I did on the nightstands, but I haven't had any luck finding a weatherproof black one.

so I'm looking for a good location to add the 2nd outdoor box for a 12v outlet. By looking at the attached picture.. which numbered spot would you guys mount it in? There's no turning back once i cut into the gelcoat so I'm gonna go with the most popular spot! LOL

Here's the box i ordered..

And the same Magnadyne outlet that i used throughout the interior will go inside the box...

I vote #4 8).  (after checking rear clearance!)

I like #4 the most too, but I don't like how close it is to the FW filler. I always overflow that thing all over the place 😂

#3 or #4, what is that thing above #2?

That's the outdoor tv mount. Came with the trailer, and has the same one on the inside.

The fresh water fill is on the passenger/curb side?   Wow that is inconvenient :o

My 2018 16TBS has that same plate for a TV- which I will never use for that*.   I'm disappointed to find it is steel and already starting to show some rust after just 6 months...

* I may make a small table to attach there.

The gravity FW fill is yes. City water connect is on the other side.

I like #2 just to keep the all 'stuff' together.  May make it more aesthetically pleasing.  But only if you come do it on the east coast so I can buy you a beer and take a closer look at all the awesome work you're doing.  Actually, let's do that after you install those recliners.  I'd really like to see those. ;)

Could happen in the near future. I still have lots of family and friends over there on the east coast that we were planning to visit. Our thoughts lately have been that driving the family in the trailer over there would be more fun, and cheaper than airline tickets/hotels 👍🏻

Best part of doing mods is being able to build up my Makita collection! 😂

One of the great benefits of any project is you get some new tools. I've never regretted buying a tool. And always buy the best you can. "The disappointment of poor quality lasts long after the sweetness of low price fades"......Packy Hamblin, tire dealer in Dallas, and others.
