Title: Trailer ready for the baby!
Post by: Paul on May 07, 2017, 06:48:19 PM
I have removed the sofa in order to make space for the baby! Later I plan to put a mattress in place of the sofa.

I was wondering if the Azdel was though enough or if I should add a plywood board or something to spread the weight.

Nice! (and cute baby bed). I assume that area of Azdel has at least 1 aluminum support under it, so I think you (and the baby) will be fine. If you add a lot of weight to the middle of that area, like adults sitting in it, extra support would be good.

Perhaps consider this:

I am thinking of adding a piece of plywood to spread the weight so me & wife can sit and in the future my plan is to put a mattress so the plywood would make a good base for it.

Any other idea of what I could use instead of plywood? Maybe a piece of wood that has a better finish than plywood

Paul,

You should be able to find some very nice veneered plywood. If you're really ambitious you could trim it with a hardwood edge but that's not absolutely necessary. Depending on the size I would think 5/8" or 3/4" thick plywood would take all the weight you might put on it.
