Title: Water taste like plastic
Post by: Paul on June 17, 2015, 01:09:06 PM
Hi everyone, I am camped at a seasonal site and I use the city water outlet for my water usage, however the water taste like plastic or rubber, I think it's because the water sit in the hose at the sun and give that taste to the water. Anyone have any suggestion to get this taste away?

One of the activated carbon filters on this page may take out the taste- http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_c_0_13?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=carbon+hose+filter&sprefix=carbon+hose+f%2Caps%2C240

Thanks David, after your post I went to walmart and got this one http://www.amazon.com/Camco-40043-TastePURE-Flexible-Protector/dp/B0006IX87S/ref=sr_1_2/180-9720051-6239507?ie=UTF8&qid=1434735024&sr=8-2&keywords=carbon+hose+filter

It was 32$ CAD, you guys got good price in the USA! It's 15$ US on Amazon, it was like 40$CAD  on amazon Canada.  This improved the taste a lot!! Thank you for the suggestion

Paul -- for your hose are you using one designed for potable water or a regular garden hose? If its just a garden hose that might be part of the problem.

Its also a good idea to flush out all the antifreeze juice after the winter.  :P

No it's one for portable water but with the filter I installed it improved the taste. I might have missed one part of it while sanitizing I forgot to push the valve on the city water but the taste seem fine now

What valve are you referring to? (Maybe I'm doing something wrong too because I don't know what valve).

when you winterize or sanitize there is no water that go in the city water pipe because you are using your fresh water tank. under the city water screen there is a valve you can push and it let the water out

That's news to me. I'll have to look. When you say under do you mean under the trailer? I do drain the red & blue pipes under the trailer -- they have stopcock valves that twist not "push" so I assume that isn't what you are talking about.

not under the trailer you know where you can plug the city water next to where you would fill you tank there is a small screen in it, you remove it and behind there is a valve you can push (http://img01.aaastatic.net/image_cache/jrprod-889142.jpg)
