Title: Increase in Federal Senior Pass Cost to $80
Post by: Mjmoore17 on December 22, 2016, 10:23:22 PM
Currently, the Senior Pass cost $10. It gives you free access to most national parks and 50% of on camping costs. It lasts a lifetime and is one of the best values available. I have saved hundreds of dollars every year since I bought mine. They are not replaceable if lost but costs only $10 for a new one.
Earlier this month the National Park Service decided to raise the cost to $80. No real explanation other than it would relieve about $26 million dollar amount from a billion dollar shortage.
The date of change has not been announced but will be this spring. There is still time to but a pass for $10.

80$ for a lifetime pass still seem like a good value. At 10$ that is really cheap!

It is a good deal but an 8 fold increase on Seniors is silly. Also, if lost or damaged, it is another $80.

We don't have a good deal like that for Canada's Parks they might have a discount for senior but you still need to pay yearly I think

We can't buy our Golden pass until October. Looks like we will pay $80, but still like receiving a 50% discount!

I was at the Saguaro West National Park with my grandkids and daughter on my 62nd Birthday to get my pass. Saved a bunch of money with it. Just a few months ago I discovered the Army Corps of Engineers campsite that ring Nashville. Stayed in a beautiful campsite for a week $9 a night with water and electric and only 20 minutes from west Nashville.
