Title: Soft Start for AC

Looking at this option for our Dometic AC to lighten the demand load when starting the AC:  https://www.dometic.com/en-us/outdoor/rv-and-van/rv-air-conditioners/air-conditioner-accessories/dometic-smartstart-for-freshjet-341758

Looks like a good choice. I didn't know Dometic made their own brand of soft starter. Looks like plug and play (after climbing on the roof and removing the cover!). Most of these are a fairly simple capacitor that absorbs the initial amp draw (called locked rotor amps) and feeds it to the compressor gradually (but very quickly).

Ended up not buying this because it still isn't available.  Bought a Briidea Soft Start off Amazon instead.  One of our members on my volunteer fire company is a retired electrician.  I had him help me hook it up due to my red/green color blindness.  Didn't want sparks to fly.  Will be testing it out in Florida.
