Looking for some recommendations for must stay Florida campgrounds this winter. Thumb nail sketch of my travels is arrive in Florida after 20 January traveling down I-95 & I-4. Spending time with Mom in Sanford then off to Key West NAS, reservations already made, for the month of February. Staying at the Long Pine Key Everglades campground the nights of 31 January and 1 March. Want to be headed back north to Pennsylvania by mid-March after visiting Mom again for a few days.
I know Stu Beans will have a few suggestions.
I do not require FHUs, electric is a nice to have option. Understand that SW Florida may be off the agenda this year due to Hurricane Ian and dislocated folks using the campgrounds along with contractors.
Anyone else going to be in Sunny Florida this Winter?

It is rather late to be making reservations for a Florida campsite this winter. Look for state parks that have no hookups which will weed out the full timers that fill Florida up in the winter. The Allstays app for iOS is great for finding campgrounds.

My Florida favorite areas are the Gulf Coast panhandle up by Apalachicola and Port St. Joe. Those areas were blasted by hurricane Michael but the recovery is going along. St. Joseph Island State Park camping may still be closed. I like that area of Florida in winter because even right on the coast there are no crowds and temps are typically 70/50.

With Sanford in mind...I would look at Oak Hammock Fish Camp (although not sure how long a stay they allow), and that has full hookups and sits on a great lake. You can always go fancy in the same area and look at Resorts at Canopy Oaks or Camp Margaritaville, but both will be expensive (but its nice to have a bar and live music!). We just started our camping season this past weekend, and checked out Key Lime RV resort, which is 10. miles from our house...had to see it and get footage (should be done editing soon), and then in Dec, we're checking out Surf RV resort, down in Palmetto. None of these are rustic, these are new, fancy, and certainly more expensive than state parks. The upside is they usually have space. You probably already know its hard as heck to get any state park space without booking 11 months out.
You can also check out the lesser known spots in Withlacoochee State Forest (not part of the state park reservation systems), if that is not far out of your way. Stu, Sorry for the late response. My Mom lives in the Sanford area with an RV storage lot on site camping is not needed in central Florida. I do appreciate your pointers. I do enjoy your You Tube videos. I have even been in your camper in Maine with the pervious owner.
