Title: Ceiling wire box
Post by: shark24 on June 01, 2021, 05:46:29 PM
The screws and holes have stripped out of our ceiling where the tv/wire box above tv. What can be used in the holes that will harden enough to put new screws in to secure the box?
Thanks

A bit of JB Weld or similar epoxy in the stripped holes. After it hardens, drill through with a bit a couple of sizes smaller than the screws. Then screw together. If you want it to stay forever, put a tiny dab of epoxy on the screw threads.

Further to DavidM. Several years ago, I fell hard for cyanoacrylate (CA) glue, not the crazy glue watered down version in the 2ml size, but the '200ml' size with spray activator. I found it great for filling holes etc. With the activator, instant gratification! Just a word about certain plastics (like the bottle the CA glue comes in) that don't glue well. Sand the area and wipe down with acetone (or rubbing alcohol) works wonders. GK
