Hello everyone,
Just wondering if this digital thermostat is suitable for RV use? I would like to replace the mecanical Atwood with a digital thermostat.
Thanks!
Sylvain,
I would need a picture or link to see which particular thermostat you are thinking about, but in general, battery powered digital thermostats are a good upgrade. I used a LuxPro model, https://www.amazon.com/LuxPRO-PSD010BF-Heating-Digital-Thermostat/dp/B005FYNCJW/ref=sr_1_6?crid=H41XKAIPBO4S&dchild=1&keywords=luxpro+thermostats&qid=1597513971&sprefix=luxpro%2Caps%2C207&sr=8-6 (https://www.amazon.com/LuxPRO-PSD010BF-Heating-Digital-Thermostat/dp/B005FYNCJW/ref=sr_1_6?crid=H41XKAIPBO4S&dchild=1&keywords=luxpro+thermostats&qid=1597513971&sprefix=luxpro%2Caps%2C207&sr=8-6) and it works very well. It only works for the furnace. The fan switch is not usable since the furnace itself controls the internal fan but the thermostat does a good job of controlling the furnace.
Sorry! I had the link to the thermostat copied but I forgot to paste it!! I think it's the same one as you. There is the link.

Is it powered only by the 2AA batteries or can it be powered by the TT battery?
That's it. Works great and easy to install. Use the AAs. Supposedly the thermostat output is an isolated relay and therefore isolated from the AAs but why take the chance. Besides it would be a hassle to connect to the TT battery and drop the voltage to a regulated 3V. The AAs last a long time but be sure to remove them when you store the TT. That's to avoid corrosion damage from dead batteries.
Great! Thank you so much. I'll place the order tonight. The CL will be even more comfortable with this upgrade especially during autumn camping!
