Hitches / Re: Replace existing ACE hitch with Bulldog?

I still don't see why a horizontal bolt through the coupler and aluminum frame won't do the trick.

David

Unsure what the inside of this A frame looks like. The one on my 2013 16DB does not have any room to put horizontal bolts through the coupler. Been reviewing mine after trips because I am using the Anderson hitch with it.

Go to https://mailchi.mp/03023e6b11ed/repairing-or-preventing-a-bent-coupler and scroll down to the bottom for some pics of CharlieM's coupler and the bolts through the frame.

Unfortunately, the photo got rotated when downloaded. I thought about a bolt through and through but decided torquing it against the angle was a bad idea. Here is the concept shown in the attached sketch. Hope to fabricate more elegantly. Thanks for the input.

Thanks for posting! What a nice campground. Our experience with Corps campgrounds has been similar. Well set up and well maintained.

This is our second (of three available in FLA) camping trip to a COE designed campsite, St Lucie South Campground, in Stuart FL. The only thing missing is lots of shade.

Here's our little wacky video, along with a bike ride tour through the campgrounds. Also our first trip since bringing home the 21rbs.

Trailers for Sale / Re: WTB 2015 or older Camplite 16 TBS with a dinette
« Last post by stu1965 on July 28, 2021, 04:30:47 PM »
Sold on 7/17. There was a lot of hugging and smooching before she left.

Stu1965, a member of this forum, may have one for sale. I sold it to him about a year ago but he has decided to upgrade to a 21 and his 2013 16TBS may be for sale. It is a sofa model, but Shop4seats and others have dinette packages (two opposing seats and a table) that should fit well and cost less than $1,000. The current sofa is mounted on a movable slide out platform, so all you have to do is unbolt the sofa and bolt on the dinette. Just check the side to side seat dimensions and make sure it will fit on the platform.

I suspect Stu will respond to this post shortly whether it is for sale or not.

Your ACE coupler looks like a knockoff of the original #5000 coupler that gave many of us grief. Not exactly sure what your configuration is but I suspect the posted sketch of the extrusion is rotated 90 degrees and the middle web is actually horizontal. If so, is there enough vertical room to drill a 1/2" hole all the way through for a single long bolt? Washers and a nut on the outside?

Hitches / Andersen Upgrade Available
« Last post by MTCamper on July 28, 2021, 12:19:22 AM »
Just an FYI for anyone using an older model Andersen WD hitch. There is an upgrade kit available that includes the newer model plate and the WD anti-sway assembly. See https://andersenhitches.com/collections/weight-distribution-hitch-parts-accessories for parts. The upgrade kit is not noted on their website but I stopped in last week on my way back from a camping trip and learned it was available for $100. They also offer a 20% military/veteran discount. Not sure if a local dealer has the same offer or what shipping charges would be.
