My Onan 5.5 was giving me a Code 58 and shutting down about 5 min after start-up. That sensor shuts the unit down at 1200 degs I replaced the Exhaust Gas Temp but heat issue continued.  I must add that this unit only has 73 hrs and my Wife had complained about excessive floor heat since the unit was new!  We have an Axxess 30 ft.... it was quite a job getting to the Onan to remove the cover.   I removed the muffler assembly, cut the muffler open and found a clogged Cat.....so I removed the cat converter and welded the muffler back together.......my exhaust temp went down to 214 degs at the area where the cat was and 178  degs on the exit end of the muffler.  No more heat issues !!

Livin Lite General Discussion / Odd Size Torx Screws
February 09, 2019, 09:25:13 PM
Anyone encountering odd size Torx screws ?  The solution is as simple as visiting your nearest Ace Hardware or Home Improvement store.  Look for square drive bits ...in my case it was a #2 square drive bit.....it fit perfectly and allowed me to tighten screws that had worked loose.  There are multiple sizes available...sometimes kitchen cabinets are hung with these square drive screws.....I couldn't figure-out why nothing fit these Torx style screw heads....a guy at my local NAPA store put me onto the solution!  Just a FYI for frustrated do-it-yourselfers! My Travel Trailer happens to be a Livin Lite Axxess Toy Hauler....but these screws seem to used widely in the RV industry.

Livin Lite General Discussion / Re: On-Off winterizing
January 18, 2018, 09:59:59 PM
I'm right there with ya Diversteve !  The valve to add RV Antifreeze to all the lines is the way to go !  It takes me less than 5min to close the hot water tank (to isolate it from the antifreeze) and draw the Antifreeze into all the lines.  My procedure is this: drain the hot water heater from the outside, then go inside and close the Hot Water heater valves, open the HWH bypass valve,  rotate the Antifreeze suction valve, Place suction line into RV Antifreeze bottle, turn ON Water Pump, then open faucets one by one until the pink antifreeze comes out. when all faucets are filled with antifreeze, you're done and the traps will retain some antifreeze from the  bleeding process.  I live in N Texas and its been frequently dropping into the single digits and teens.  It literally took me longer to type this procedure than to actually complete the winterization task. It might be a good idea to open the outside water drain valves briefly to make sure they are protected also.  Turn off the pump and rotate the suction valve to the normal position.  In the spring, just be sure completely flush all water lines.  My 30 Ft Axxess uses about 1 1/2 gallons to complete the winterizing process.

VRV Toy Hauler General Discussions / Re: LP Gas heater
January 18, 2018, 07:09:41 PM
I guess I should have followed-up with a conclusion to this heater Lock-Out......The problem was a cracked solder joint on the circuit board and also...wasp mud daubers had built in the exhaust duct.  Those two repairs fixed the heater issue.  As a preventative measure, I added the stainless steel screens to all exterior vents to keep the wasps out !

 8) I have an Axxess Toy Hauler 30 ft......occasionally we were getting a foul holding tank odor.  I installed the Campco Cyclone Vent and all odors are now gone !  It's easy to install and was well worth the investment. The installation took maybe 30 minutes. It works exactly as advertised !  Now I'm a happy camper ! ;D

 8) Welcome !  Good choice on the new Toy Hauler.  We have the Axxess  30' and enjoy it immensely.  We just got home from the MotoGP races in Austin.  I had an Indian Chieftain and a Kaw Vaquero inside.  I had to load the bikes end to end to keep enough weight forward of the axles.  They're great units. Hope you receive yours soon !  Good luck !  We're about an hour from Winstar Casino....give us a shout and we'll meet you for ribs at Toby Keith's or a ride around Lake Murray !

VRV Toy Hauler General Discussions / LP Gas heater
September 30, 2016, 09:36:25 PM
I have a .14 Livin Lite Axxess 8.5x30 Toy Hauler.  Monday morning we were trying to get a little heat going and attempted to start the LP Heater.   This unit is new and never been used.  The thermostat seems to be working and the motor fan runs.  I hear the gas valve click but it wouldnt light.   The LP fridge works as does the LP stove...but still no heat.   What am I missing ? It's an AT Wood heater. the LED shows 3 blinks separated by about 5 sec and then 3 more blinks..... its a "Lock-Out" but I'm unsure as to the cause.....any suggestions for quick checks?????  Otherwise, it's going to the shop !   Thanks in advance !!

So,  we "dry camped" up at Winstar Casino in Oklahoma with our 8.5-30 Axxess.  Granted, it was 100 degrees so we ran both a/c units. The floor in the MBR on the left side of the bed was burning hot !  The muffler compartment underneath is transferring heat to the floor above. It's a safety concern as it would burn skin or possibly melt rubber backed rugs or set them on fire.  Has anyone else encountered this on their units with the Onan Generator?

My plan is to insulate the compartment and add a metal vent to the outside...to vent some of that heat out !  Just curious if anyone else had the Onan option with a similar issue !  I love the Axxess, but it does have a few issues to resolve to make it more user friendly.

;) Thanks to all for the input on the small Brake battery.  I'll take your advice and give it a charge when needed !  I'll post a pic when possible....I'm not very high tech.  LOL !

John, my little 5.3 struggles on long grades...running cruise control is next to impossible unless you like seeing the tach in the 5000 rpm range.  I've replaced the transmission with a Jasper tranny....it has a Nationwide 3 yr 100k warranty. I'm not that brave to attack the Smokey Mountains with that kinda load....I've convinced the Wife that a diesel would pull better. It's just an expensive proposition. I've got and Indian Chieftain that will add 900 pounds to the rear and we plan to tour the U.S. The bike puts me way over the Towing Capacity of my 1/2 ton.  Perhaps one day we can get a few of us to "circle the wagons"!   ;D

Hey John,   Thanks for the reply! I hadn't thought of the electric brakes. What size Axxess are you pulling with your F-150?  Right now I have what I call....an Axxess IN Exxess !  Temporarily, I'm taking very short trips with my 30', pulling it with a 4WD 1/2 ton Silverado. I'm using the biggest load equalizing hitch plus an extra 1200 pound spring rating in the rear....It's level and not squatting...but a 3/4-1 ton diesel is coming in the very near future.  I've got a lake with level roads and only 10 miles away with no traffic to navigate.....i'll have to settle for that until the larger rig arrives.

I'm new to the Livin Lite world.....does anyone know why my Axxess 8.5-30 has what looks like....2 batteries ?  One is the standard size car battery and the other looks like a small motorcycle battery. I'm getting ready to add tank fluid gauges for Fresh, Grey and Black and was looking for a better understanding of the associated electrical system.   Thanks in advance for any help you can provide ! :-\

Member Introductions / New Member from Bowie Texas
July 06, 2016, 11:52:12 PM
I'm a new LL Axxess 8.5-30 owner from Bowie, Texas.  I just completed a quick maiden voyage to Winstar Casino, just across the Red River in Oklahoma. I am retired and plan to travel with my Indian Chieftain motorcycle across the U.S. to National Parks, State Parks and other points of interest !  You're certain to catch me at Circuit Of The America's, Austin Texas in April for the Moto GP Races. If your travels take you near Bowie, give me a shout !  I'd love to meet other Toy Hauler owners...maybe circle the wagons ! Safe Travels !
