It's quite sad really. This line of campers offers something different from most of the others and having that factory sponsored site was a brilliant idea that could have been a value added selling point. Lost opportunity for Livin Lite in my opinion.
Agreed. This is 2017. I think it's safe to say that online presence and opinion plays a pretty big role in the decision to buy a certain brand of camper. This year my wife and I purchased a new camper, but not before untold hours of online research.
This seems like a lost opportunity to promote their brand, foster a 'community', and refute negative rumors.

I think I like this solution, and the cut out on the outside of the bench provides a little extra floor storage when packed up.  As someone who has a tendency to sit closer to the edge or on corners, I'd be interested in what people say about stability.  Thanks for sharing.

I'm interested as well.
I'll keep you posted with my thoughts when we finally receive our camper.

As I'm in the middle of a factory ordered 8.1, any unexpected changes to the Quicksilver lineup was an obvious concern.

I contacted my salesman at the RV dealership, who then put me in touch with The Regional Sales Representative. The following is the information he provided regarding the removeability of the benches. (Livinlite Rep comments in Blue )

To give you some background... we have always used the same rotocast benches that we use today. That's never changed but a year ago we did some other changes that effected the wheels wells. The change pushed the necessity to cut the bench so that it still fit over the wheel well. This did take away the ability to use the bench as a cooler and it took away some of the stability. To improve the stability, we started screwing the dinette benches to the floor. That's how we've come to today. Now the exciting part.... (or the rest of the story as Paul Harvey might say)
We are changing the configuration of the rotocast benches. I've taken a picture of the old style (upside down) and the new style (upside down) so you can see how they've changed. Starting this week, any order will get the new bench with the space to accept the wheel well. It'll reinstitute the flexibility and your ability to use the bench as a cooler.

I'm cross-posting the information below as I believe it to be relevant to the discussion....

Had a chance to speak with a representative at Livinlite about the flooring concerns being expressed here.
With his permission, I'm posting below an internal memo he forwarded to me.

Good morning Team.
The following are the laminated floor information.
·         Absolutely NO WOOD in the super structure, including the floor system
·         5 layers-We use 5 layers to construct the floor.  Lamilux fiberglass top, 1-layer of Azdel, polystyrene(High-density block foam insulation), lastly another layer of Azdel and Darco protective wrap
·         Most laminated floor systems use wood product called luan, LL DOES NOT use wood.  We have thoroughly tested(weight per sq inch) this new and improved floor with the fiberglass top layer. it has outperformed the luan constructed laminated floor system used by many manufacturers in the RV industry.
·         Aluminum framed floor. R-value is 10 VS previous way was R-0
·         Heat/Cold transfer is less do to the insulated floor over the aluminum floor
·         High-density Block foam adds noise reduction
·         More comfortable to stand on, Smooth fiberglass top, no ridges like the aluminum floor system
·         This new advanced floor is lighter weight than the old floor system.

I have to admit that having the opportunity to discuss the changes in detail went a long way to help alleviate my concerns.

catmanriff, you have a very healthy life attitude.

I guess we should all learn to take a deep breath, relax, and put things into perspective.

But I still wish Livinlite would come forward and explain the replacement product and processes. :)
Left to the faults of human nature, it would seem most are assuming the worst.

This would be an invaluable opportunity for Livinlite to reach out to the consumer base and quell growing concerns.

Thank you RockorSomething.  Do you know where I can lookup more information on skinstick?  It definitely doesn't provide any structural integrity, but I'm wondering how it holds up to the elements.

Assuming that it is what i believe it to be...
The only purpose of the paper/skinstick is during production. Afterwards, it doesn't need to hold up under any environment or stress as it's purpose has been served.
The only reason it is still there is because it becomes bonded to the composite permanently and it would be more work to remove it.

Then again. I could be misidentifying it completely.

It's a shame that Livinlite, recognizing customers concerns, won't release information about the modification to their build components.

Has anyone tried to contact Livinlite directly about the process and material used?

....Rot, I'm honestly not sure, as that material on the underside of the floor looks a lot like cardboard or a wood based product.  The routing of the propane lines across the frame where they are now exposed has me concerned.

I watched your videos; in particular your final video:
I could be wrong, but that paper material you are concerned about appears to be a paper product called 'skinstick.' It's only purpose is to serve as a impermeable vacuum layer during the bonding of composites. It is not intended to provide any structural integrity.

At this point I don't believe that there is any advantage to a LL product.

Are they still lightweight?
Rot free?
Rust free?

Has the substitution of a different flooring material negated those advantages?
Assuming they didn't use wood, steel, or cardboard, I'd think those advantages are still intact.
