Wife and I had a three day trip planned for us in our QS10 to Carpenteria beach, right on the water. Right now pretty much everything has burnt around that area, right down to the town. Our trip is three weeks away but we're not sure about how to feel, considering how many people lost homes and with all the devastation in the area. Go, and support the area by injecting some tourist money into the region, albeit a small drop of what is needed? Or, Let things settle down and revisit next fall? The campground is open and so are the highways to it.

I can offer some personal perspective on that. 4 years ago there was a 20,000+ acre forest fire in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan that burned within 3/4 mile of our family cabin. The area was a mess and smelled of smoke and ash for months. There were many folks that were burned out and lost everything, including resorts, cabins, fishing camps, and state forest campgrounds. One of the things most appreciated by those with losses was a return as quickly as possible to some sense of normalcy. If everyone had stayed away and left the entire area barren of activity, it would have been extra hard. So, go, and spend, and talk with folks, and listen, and enjoy that waterfront site!

thank you. That perspective is much appreciated.

The air quality might be of concern still. They say the fire may burn through till new years. It's at just over 400 sq miles right now
