Camplite and Bearcat Modifications / Wire Coding
May 26, 2019, 07:58:15 PM
I am about ready to replace my old vortex fan with a maxxfan.  The maxxfan instillation instructions state that the black wire on the fan is positive (+).    On the camplites, is the black wire to the fans negative (-) or positive (+)?    I am assuming that the black wire is negative, but I want to check on this forum first.

Thanks.

We recently returned from a 2000 mile trip over two weeks and toured southwest Montana and Central Idaho.  This is our longest trip with the CL.  The new F-150 towed the camper through the mountain passes and unpaved roads with control and ease.  Trading in the highlander was the right decision.   Gas mileage is equivalent between the F-150 and highlander at around 13-14 mpg.

I experimented with towing with and without the Andersen WDH.  I can not tell much of a difference, so it is tempting to leave the WDH at home.

We stayed one night at a walmart, one at an electric NFS campground, and the rest was dry camping at NFS or state campgrounds.

The temperatures fell to around freezing on a few nights and it rained fairly hard several nights.  It was good to put the furnace to the test and observe any leaking.   A minor water issue was condensation forming under the trusses and one of the studs.

With the exception of the cabinet falling down, I am happy with the trailer's performance.  It may not be as stylish as some  other camping trailers, but its functionality, durability, and easy of towing are excellent.

Tow Vehicles / Toyota Tacoma
May 07, 2017, 12:14:45 PM
I currently tow a 14DB (~2600 lb unloaded) with a Toyota Highlander, which has a 5,000 lb towing capacity.  The Highlander does fine, but I can tell that it wasn't designed to tow an upright camper.  Would I notice a justifiable improvement with a 3.5L V6 Tacoma?   We would like to do more cross country trips. The size of the 14DB fits us well, and don't intend to get a larger camper.

Hi Everyone,

I posted a few times on the old forum.  We live in western North Dakota and have a 2014 14DB that was manufactured in December of 2013.  We bought it last year and love it. Glad to get the tandem axle and aluminum roof before the changes.  No major issues so far.

I'm glad that the old forum is archived here.
